Play Therapy for Children Age 4-14yrs

What is play therapy?

Play therapy is a form of creative arts psychotherapy developed for children. Unlike conventional talking therapy it uses the child’s natural form of communication (play) to process difficult experiences or feelings in a safe environment.
It can help support children and families who have been through trauma, bereavement, adoption and loss. It is also helpful in supporting children with mental health difficulties, school refusal, peer relationship difficulties and additional learning needs.

Play therapy supports the development of self-esteem, independence, autonomy, and emotional awareness.

Direct Therapy Sessions

We offer one-to-one weekly therapy sessions in The Ark Centre Clinic, in school or at your home. Once we have recieved your email enquiry Charly will contact you and arrange a time that suits you to have a free telephone consultation. If Charly agrees that play therapy is suitable for your child she will arrange dates for an initial assessment and a therapy block.

Each session is 45 minutes with a review every six weeks.

Family Support In Your Home

Play therapy can be useful in developing attachment relationships for families where there has been trauma or loss. We are also able to provide whole family workshops to assist families to communicate more effectively when there has been a breakdown in relationships.
